Mukhlis retains PABA title

Indonesia's world rated jr. lightweight Roy Mukhlis (#15 WBA and #7 WBO) won by TKO in round two of a scheduled twelve against Thai Pathompol Srisopha, retaining his PABA jr.lightweight title on Saturday at the Trans7 Studio, Jakarta, Indonesia. Srisopha was knocked down three times in the second, before the referee finally stopped the bout and declared the TKO victory for Mukhlis, now 18-2-2, 15 KOs. Srisopha replaced Ghana's Theophilus Quaye who faced a visa difficulty before the fight, and was scheduled to fight another Indonesian fighter, Wajib Suswanto next week.

On the undercard, Agus Situmorang won the Indonesian minimum title after defeating the defending champion Tommy Seran by majority decision in a ten round bout.

ROY MUKHLIS VS THEOPHILUS QUAYE

Juara "Double Title " Roy Mukhlis akan mempertahankan gelarnya 26 April mendatang di Jakarta.
Sang lawan adalah Theophilus 'Jupiter' Quaye (Ghana). Dalam pertandingan tersebut Roy akan mempertaruhkan kedua gelar (PABA & WBO Orient) yang disandangnya saat ini.

Secara teknis Mukhlis lebih mumpuni, ini bisa dilihat dari rekor tandingnya 17-2-2 (14 KOs) lebih mengkilap dibanding Quaye 11-4-1 (3 KOs). Namun itu tidaklah selalu menjadi ukuran, karena tinju bukanlah mathematic. Yang terpenting bagi mukhlis adalah selalu waspada dan tidak memandang remeh lawan, karena besar kemungkinan style bertinju Quaye berbeda dengan lawan yang biasa dihadapi Mukhlis sebelumnya (Thailand dan Philippine).
